Mirror text generator with PNG download

Type your text and get a mirrored version to copy, plus a flipped image you can save as a PNG.

Mirror image

Copyable mirror text uses Unicode look-alikes, which exist for A to Z, a to z, and a few symbols. Other characters stay as they are, so check the preview. It all runs in your browser: your text is never uploaded.

Example input and result

Hello mirror

Result

ɿoɿɿim ollɘH

How the mirror text generator works

Type or paste your text and pick a mode. The result updates as you type, ready to copy. There are two modes:

  • “Mirror (reads right in a mirror)”: reverses each line and swaps every letter for a mirrored look-alike, so “Hello” comes out like “ollɘH” and reads normally when you hold the screen up to a mirror
  • “Mirror letters, keep order”: swaps each letter for its mirrored look-alike but leaves the letters in their order, for a mirrored style you still read left to right

Mirrored text keeps your lines in order

With several lines, each line is mirrored on its own and the lines stay in the same order, top to bottom. A three-line message stays three lines, with the first one still on top, so a short poem or an address keeps its shape.

To only reverse the order of the letters without mirroring them, use the backwards text generator. For text turned upside down, use the upside down text generator. This page is for lettering that reads right in a reflection.

Mirror image: a truly flipped PNG

Unicode look-alikes come close, but not every character has one. That's why the generator also draws a “Mirror image”: a live preview of your text truly flipped, like a reflection. It works for any character, digits, accented letters, and symbols included.

Press “Download PNG” to save that image. Since it's a picture and not text, it keeps exactly the look you see in the preview, with every character facing the right way for a mirror, ready to print or to trace.

Mirrored text for stencils, tattoos, and transfers

Some jobs need lettering that looks backwards on the object and reads right in a reflection or once it's transferred. For these, download the PNG rather than copying the text, because a print needs every character flipped:

  • Ambulance-style lettering, which reads correctly in a rearview mirror
  • Iron-on transfers, printed mirrored so they flip back when you press them onto fabric
  • Stencils and stamps, which print the reverse of how they're cut
  • Tattoo designs meant to be read in a mirror
  • Window signs painted on the inside of the glass to be read from outside

Which characters work as copyable mirror text

Copyable mirror text relies on Unicode, which has look-alikes for A to Z, a to z, and some punctuation: ( ) [ ] { } < > and ?. Brackets swap, so ( becomes ). Characters without a look-alike, like digits and most symbols, stay as they are.

Accented letters keep their accent, so “café” still shows its é in mirrored form. The look-alikes come from different alphabets and symbol sets, so a few letters look a little off in some fonts. Check the preview before you paste the result into a bio, a username, or a message.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make mirror text?

Type or paste your text, choose “Mirror (reads right in a mirror)”, and copy the result. Each line is reversed and every letter is swapped for a mirrored look-alike, so the text reads normally in a mirror. For a print, download the PNG of the mirror image instead.

What's the difference between mirror text and backwards text?

Backwards text only reverses the order of the letters, so each letter still faces the normal way. Mirror text also flips each letter, so the whole thing looks like a reflection. For the order-only version, use the backwards text generator.

Why do some characters not change?

Unicode has mirrored look-alikes for A to Z, a to z, and a few signs like brackets and the question mark. Digits and most other symbols have none, so they stay as they are in the copyable text. The PNG flips every character, so use it when that matters.

Should I copy the text or download the PNG?

Copy the text for places that take typed text, like a bio, a username, or a chat. Download the PNG for anything you'll print, cut, or trace, like a stencil or an iron-on transfer, because the image flips every character exactly as it looks.

Do accented letters and numbers work?

Accented letters keep their accent, so é and ñ still show their marks in mirrored form. Numbers have no mirrored look-alikes, so they stay the same in the copyable text. In the mirror image and the PNG, numbers flip like everything else.
