Invisible character generator

Choose a blank-looking Unicode character, set its length, then test what reaches a text field before you paste it.

Generate invisible text Characters are created in this browser.

Choose a character and length

An invisible character is real text, not an empty field. Different apps may keep, remove, or reject it.

What is an invisible character?

An invisible character is real text that may not show a visible mark. U+200B has no width and can support invisible word separation.

Why blank text can behave differently

Apps decide which characters to keep in usernames, messages, and forms. Test the output in the destination field. If you want a name that stands out instead of one that looks blank, try the font generator.

How to copy and paste an invisible character

The Zero Width Space is ready to copy as soon as the page loads, so one tap is enough. For a different character or a longer run, go in this order:

  • Choose one in “Character type”.
  • Set how many in “Number to generate”, or tap one of the “Quick amounts”.
  • Tap “Copy invisible text”.
  • Paste it into “Test a paste” to confirm it copied.
  • Paste it into your name, bio or message, save, and see if it stays.

The three blank characters in this tool

Each option is a separate invisible Unicode character with its own code, so an app can accept one and drop another.

  • Zero Width Space (U+200B): an invisible space character with no width. Unicode uses it to mark where words can split or a line can break.
  • Hangul Filler (U+3164): a filler from the Korean alphabet that counts as a letter. It looks blank, and the gap it leaves depends on the font.
  • Braille Pattern Blank (U+2800): a braille cell with no dots that counts as a symbol. In fonts that include it, it takes up as much room as a regular character.

What people use blank text for

Blank text helps when an app won't let you leave a field empty or squeezes your spaces into one. Every invisible character still counts toward a name or bio length limit, even though you can't see it.

  • A name that looks blank in a game, a chat or on Discord, where it's allowed
  • A message that looks empty, as a joke with friends
  • Extra space or a blank line in your Instagram bio
  • Room between symbols in a decorated name
  • Testing how your own form or app handles hidden characters

If the blank disappears after you paste it

Some apps remove blank-looking characters when you save, and others show a box ▯ when their font doesn't include the character. In both cases the copy itself worked.

Paste into “Test a paste” first. If the counter matches the number you generated, the copy is fine and the app removed it, so switch “Character type” and try again. Tap “Clear test area” between tries so the count starts at zero.

With Braille Pattern Blank, several in a row usually make a wider gap. Zero Width Spaces stay at zero width however many you copy.

Frequently asked questions

Will this character work in every app?

No. Apps can preserve, remove, or reject different characters. Test the result where you plan to use it.

Which invisible character should I pick?

Start with the default, U+200B (zero width space). If an app removes it or won't accept a blank-looking name, try Hangul Filler (U+3164) or Braille Pattern Blank (U+2800). They all look empty, but they're different characters, so each app treats them in its own way.

How do I check that it copied?

Paste it into the “Test a paste” box on this page. The counter shows how many characters arrived, even though you can't see them.

How many can I generate at once?

From 1 to 1,000 characters. Use the quick amounts, the + and − buttons, or type a number.

Can I leave a name or a message blank?

It depends on the app. Some apps remove characters that look empty or ask for at least one visible character. Paste it where you need it and check whether the app keeps it.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. The characters are created in your browser, and Typedly doesn't send what you generate or paste to a server.
